Since I went to my parents to ride the hurricane out this is how I know I never lost power. I walked back on this afternoon and it was on. If I had lost power for too long of a time the ice would have melted and the quarter would refrozen lower and I would know to throw everything out in my fridge. #hurricanetip
Lots of trees down but every major tree had a crew working on it already. We are starting to gather reports from friends closer to the coast and so far it’s all “minimal damage”. Still waiting to hear more from where Milton made landfall. #hurricane #milton #lakeland #lakelandflorida #florida
We are blessed, I rode out the storm with my parents, they lost power and the water is currently turned off but I just checked and my apartment miraculously never lost power. Running on like 5 hours of sleep but it’s so nice to see daylight. Neighborhood is already out cleaning. I’ll wait to go out to my place for a while to access but heard from a neighbor that everything seems fine! #milton #hurricane #florida
The sound of wind has now been replaced by a generator. Going to continue to document but likely my next update will be in the morning, going to try and get some sleep but that probably won’t happen until the eye passes us. Stay Strong Florida the morning always come! #hurricane

I’ll head to my parent’s house later tomorrow morning and I’ll show you all the prep work I’ve done before leaving my apartment tomorrow. I’m usually a heavy sleeper but the past two nights when I’m this anxious I’m just waiting for time to literally pass by and for it to be here. I’m sure I’ll check the 2am advisory as well. We have a long 36 hours ahead of us. Keep praying for our state! #floridastrong

I need something else to do… I get paralyzed by media sometimes when it’s a major event like this, it consumes me I’ve been switching between the different news channels all day today. I’ve been stalking @denisphillipsabcweather and waiting for any updates - especially for Polk County. I’m going to start painting or editing some photos soon to help take my mind off the storm for a little while but I hope everyone is ready. Remember to look out for your neighbors, have patience, be kind, and have faith. We are all thinking and feeling the same thing, waiting anxiously for this storm, but while doing so remember to remain calm and treat everyone you encounter with kindness. It’s never been more important to love thy neighbor. For my followers who don’t know I live in Lakeland, Florida and right now we are in the path of this storm. I’m staying. I live far enough inland and I’m not in a flood zone. I’m prepared but I would be lying if I said I’m not anxious.
